Carl Roysdon, age 91 of New Castle, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Glen Oaks Health Campus in New Castle. He was born December 24, 1921 in Somerset, Kentucky to the late John L and Mattie (Girdler) Roysdon.
Carl served in the United States Army Air Corps as a Corporal in World War II serving in Europe with the 8th and 9th Air Corps. He worked on and pre-flighted A26 and B26 medium bomber aircraft. For his actions he received a European Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars noting actions taken by his unit/planes, a Distinguished Unit Citation and a Good Conduct Ribbon. Carl was employed by and retired from Perfect Circle Dana Corporation following 34 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed watching and talking about basketball and was an avid Pacer fan.
Survivors include his children, Doyle (Virginia Bonham) Roysdon and Rickey (Jeannie Lee) Roysdon; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Grammer Roysdon; siblings, Homer Roysdon, Hershel Roysdon, Kathleen Roysdon Godsey, Eugene Roysdon, John L. Roysdon, Jr. and Virginia Roysdon Flynn.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and VFW and Active Duty contingent of the United States Army.
