Carl DeWayne Shore, 83, a resident of Mooreland passed away Monday April 4, 2016 at his residence while surrounded by family. He was born October 25, 1932 in Henry County to the late Howard and Esther (Ammerman) Shore. He was married to the love of his life, Lela May (Walker) Shore, for 63 years before her passing in 2013.
Carl retired from Dana following 33 years of service. Growing up on a farm, Carl learned both farming and carpentry from his father. Carl became a skilled carpenter and even built his own home where he has resided the past 59 years. Having a soft soul and a heart of gold, his hobby was to help others. Carl also enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and flying model airplanes.
Carl was a member of the New Testament Church in Hagerstown. He was a 46 year member of the Hagerstown F & A.M Lodge No. 49 where Carl became a Master Mason and served as Worshipful Master in 1977. Carl achieved the honor of 33rd degree Mason, the highest Masonic degree, with the Indianpolis Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Murat Shriners, NRA, Moose Lodge, Eastern Star, and Academy of Model Aviation.
Survivors include daughters, Connie Sue (Roger) Morris of Hagerstown; Cathy (Kenneth) Teague of Hagerstown, Carol (Bob) Huffine of Mooreland and a son, Ike (Dana) Shore of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Stacey Morris, Todd (Darcy) Morris, Amanda (Scott) Study, Kylee (Marty) Bowling, Krista Teague, Amber (David) Blevins, Derrek Huffine, Carrie (Chris) Pruitt, Jake (Jamie) Shore; twelve great grandchildren; siblings; Marion “Gene” (Rosellen) Shore of Henry County, Helen (Vechel) Scott of Fl; sister-in-law; Martha Shore of New Castle.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Lela May (Walker) Shore; and a brother; Don Shore.
Services will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 8, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Paul Gearhardt officiating. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. by the Hagerstown F & A.M. Lodge No. 49. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. prior to the service on Friday. Memorial contributions may be given to the IU Ball Hospice, 2401 W. University Ave.,
