Carol Harter, 103, formerly of Mooreland passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the Woodlands in New Castle. She was born September 15, 1906 in Wayne County, Indiana, the daughter of the late William and Minnie (Waddle) Huffman.
A farm wife, she was a member of South Christian Church in Mooreland. She had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She enjoyed working on the family farm, baking, knitting, crocheting and working in the yard, especially mowing the lawn until age 98.
Survivors include her son: George (wife: Nancy) Harter of Mooreland; nine grandchildren; five step grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; fourteen great great grandchildren and one step great great granddaughter; several nieces & nephews; and special friends & Woodlands family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Walter H. Harter; a son: Robert Harter; two daughters: Joan Harter and Mary Lou Irvin; a granddaughter: Mariann Swearingen a grandson: Dan Harter; twin brother: Harold Huffman; and two brothers: Glen & Wilmer Huffman.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with the Reverend Mark Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery in Middletown. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the funeral home and one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the South Christian Church of Mooreland or Henry County Hospital Hospice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
