Carolee Speer

Carolee J. Speer, 76, of Charlottesville, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 24, 2010 at her residence. She was born January 9, 1934 in Bagota, IL the daughter of Manford and Ruth (Tate) Curtis.

Carolee was a 1951 graduate of Charlottesville High School. She married her husband Jim on August 2, 1952. She served as a secretary for Charlottesville School Corporation for 8 years and also helped her husband farm at home. She loved painting, enjoyed nature and entertaining guests. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Carolee was an active member of the Nameless Creek Christian Church for 60 years and a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years: Jim Speer of Charlottesville; children: Darlene Livingston of Knightstown, John (wife: Bonnie) Speer of Charlottesville, Brent (wife: Kim) of Wetumpka, AL; grandchildren: Carrie Ferree, Julie (husband: Clyde) Maxwell, Kevin Livingston, Tyler Speer, Erica Speer, Bradley Speer, Collier Speer, and Wesley Speer; three great grandchildren; sister: Wanita Marshall of Greenfield, mother-in-law: Helen Speer of Greensburg, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law: David Livingston; father-in-law: Everett Speer.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Dr. Jim Carcia officiating. Friends may call from 5-7 PM prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nameless Creek Christian Church, 3856 N 800 E Greenfield, IN 46140.
