Carroll Pollitt

Carroll Ray Pollitt, age 66, of New Castle passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at his residence. He was born February 21, 1942 in New Castle to the late Clark and Velma (Luellen) Pollitt.

He retired from Ingersoll Steel after 32 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, was very artistic. He loved spending time with his boys and grandchildren and loved his wife very much. He liked riding his motorcycle and 4-wheelers and was a big boxing fan and loved watching boxing as well as sports. He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed remodeling his rental homes. He attended South Side Nazarene and Open Arms Churchs.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years: Vickie Pollitt of New Castle; sons: Jeff Pollitt (companion: Tammy Ropel and her son Brock) of New Castle and Mike Pollitt (fiance: Candice Smith) of New Castle; a daughter: Julie (husband: Rodney) Owens of New Lisbon; special nephews: Richard (wife: Patricia) Pollitt of New Castle and Harold Ray Shelton of FL; stepsons: Kevin (wife: Angel) Asberry of New Castle, Brad (wife: Jennifer) Goodwin of Dennison, TX; grandchildren: Nicholas Pollitt , Michael B. Pollitt, Tiffany (husband: Nick) White, Breanna Smith all of New Castle, Jesse Pollitt, Jamie Melton both of New Lisbon and Devin Asberry of New Castle; two brothers: F.L. (wife: Marsha) Pollitt of Covington, LA and James (wife: Carolyn J.) Pollitt of Muncie; a sister: Wilma Nelson of Muncie; a brother-in-law: Tom (wife: Nancy) Portor and their children Nathaniel Porter and Tess Porter of San Diego, CA; several nieces and nephews..

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend David Perry officiating. Friends may call from 11-1:00 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Hospice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
