Catherine Howard

Catherine Howard, 85, of Ogden, passed away Monday, December 28, 2009 at Brandywine Manor in Greenfield following an extended illness. She was born February 6, 1924 the daughter of Alfred and Ruby (Reid) Longwell.

Catherine and her husband, Gib Howard, owned and managed the Ogden Market and Howard’s Garage for about 40 years. A lifelong resident of Ogden, she was a member of the Ogden United Methodist Church. She loved being a homemaker and mother. She also enjoyed gardening, oil painting and cooking.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters: Carolyn (husband: Glenn) Stoten of Ogden; Priscilla (husband: Dennis) Shumaker of Italy; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one sister: Mary Goodlin of Ogden; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son: Paul Howard; a sister: Louise Dean; three brothers: John, Oliver “Pete” and Charles Longwell.

Services will be at 12:00 noon Thursday, December 31, 2009 at the Ogden United Methodist Church with Reverend Brian Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Friends may call from 10:00 AM to time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ogden United Methodist Church 4296 W. Old National Road Knightstown, IN 46148.
