Charles Loel Cloud (Bud) passed away peacefully on February 12, 2014 at the age of 88. Bud was born on April 20, 1925 in Henry County, IN to the late Harold and Millie Cloud. He was proud to have been a WWII veteran and to have served in the U.S. Navy from April 1942 to May 1946 as seaman first class aboard the U.S.S. Nitro, U.S.S. Anthony, and U.S.S. Norton Sound. Bud graduated from Center High School as president of his senior class in 1947 upon returning from military duty. He attended Ball State Business College and enjoyed an extensive career in retail and security.
Bud was the proud father of Rebecca (Paul) Harris of Dade City, FL, Valerie (Jerry) Holter of Gulfport, MS, Elizabeth Waterfall (Emeric Rokay) of Wind Point, WI, and Charles Rhett Cloud of Sterling, IL. He was the loving grandfather of Barry Harris, Jason Harris, Cami (Eric) Wyatt, Suzzie Holter, Gabe Holter, Clark Waterfall, and Joshua (Katie) Waterfall. Bud was great grandfather to Lexi, Owen, Quinton, Emma and Ronnie. He was the dear brother of Maurice Cloud (deceased), Allen Cloud, Joy Forrest, and Bette Greenwell.
The family would like to thank the staff, especially nurse Linda at Signature Healthcare in Muncie for their loving care of Bud over the past two years as well as the staff at Ball Memorial Hospital. The family also greatly appreciates the warm, supportive guidance of the staff at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service.
Services will be at 12:00 p.m. noon on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Larry Delaney officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery in Raleigh, Rush County. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
