Charles Green

November 6, 1926 — October 1, 2009

Charles David Green, age 82, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born November 9, 1926 in Princeton, Indiana to the late Rev. Lyle O. and Nellie Leona (Paul) Green.

He retired from ABB Corporation in Muncie in 1990 and was previously employed at Modernfold Corporation in New Castle. Charlie was also a motor route driver for the Courier Times for many years. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and was active in the 1945 class reunion. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and baseball. Charles was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years: Freda (Goudy) Green; five children: Pat (husband: Steve) Hinshaw of New Castle, Larry (wife: Shari) Green of Straughn, Brenda (husband: Butch) Jessie of New Castle, Mary (husband: Denny) Green of Hagerstown, and Jim (wife: Paula) Green of New Castle; twelve grandchildren: Chrystie and Matt Hinshaw, Ryan (wife: Julie) Wesling, Kelly (husband: Shaun) Pandoli, Matthew Connor, Brandon Connor, Paul (wife: Krista) Grider, Branden (wife: Jenny) Jessie, Brandi Grider, Kyle, Kathie and Reba Green; one great granddaughter: Kiah Jean Pandoli; a brother: James (wife: Rosemary) Green of Canton, IL; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Torgrimson and Martha Fisher.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 5, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Danny Goddard and Reverend Leon Davis officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, October 4, 2009 at the funeral home.
