Charles “Chuck” Edwin Janes, 80, of New Castle, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Henry County Hospital. He was born February 1, 1933 in Sharon, TN, a son of Ulis and Edna Mae Janes.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean conflict. Chuck was a hard working man and a good father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. His family was his life. He worked at J.I. Case in Hinsdale, IL as a machinist and retired after 29 years of service. At the same time, he and his wife owned and operated Rosalie’s Pizzeria in Cicero, IL. Following retirement from J.I. Case, he and his wife moved to Mooreland where they had a small farm with horses and cows. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member and trustee of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed music, dancing, and having a good time.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years: Bessie Janes of New Castle; children: Thomas G. (Juanita) Janes of New Castle; Brenda K. (Richard) Johnson of Kenosha, WI; Danny E. (Sandra) Janes of Spiceland; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; siblings: Colleen (Basil) Moon of Martin, TN; Mildred Frields of Memphis, TN; Gene Janes of Spiceland; Ellis (Jackie) Janes of Dresdon, TN; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Francis Daniels, Pamela Brooks, and Tommy Janes.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Services will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition with military rites conducted by the local VFW, American Legion, and an active duty contingent of the U.S. Army.
