Charles James Mikel, 59 passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at IU Health-Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He was born December 2, 1953 in Muncie to Sylvia (Frye) Mikel and the late Virgil H. Mikel.
A 1972 graduate of Wapahani High School, he retired from General Motors, Anderson in 2003 after 33 years of service. He was a member of UAW Local #665. A family man, he found special pleasure in his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, NASCAR races and working on cars.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife of 40 years: Betty Jean (Jett) Mikel; two children: Charles James Mikel, Jr. (Amy) and Belisa Mikel; four grandchildren: Trae’lynn, Jordan, Zachary and Zayden; a great-granddaughter: Adalynn; two brothers: Tony and Virgil Mikel; a sister: Vickie (Kevin) Mansfield; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home in Muncie with Pastor Glenn Greiner officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Elm Ridge Funeral Home with funeral immediately following.
