Charles L. Myers

Charles L. Myers, age 72, of Spiceland, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Glen Oaks Health Campus surrounded by his family. He was born May 14, 1939 in Cadiz, Indiana son of the late Parnell and Viva (Keesling) Myers.
He owned and operated Charlie’s Barber Shop in Spiceland for 51 years. He also drove a school bus for South Henry Schools for 29 years. He attended First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle and was past president of the Spiceland Lions Club. He was a 1957 graduate of Cadiz High School.
Survivors include his wife of almost 36 years, Joyce Ann (Garner) Myers of Spiceland; children, Brad (wife, Staci) Myers of Arlington, Shelley (husband, Duane) Fortune of Shirley, Rick (wife, Lesa) Barlow of Spiceland and Cindy Cox of Spiceland.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Inken Myers and Addie Myers Isaacs both of Hampton Beach, VA, Sadie Myers of Markelville, Shane and Presley Fortune both of Shirley, Nyree (husband, Craig) Sullivan of Knoxville, TN, Katie (husband, Dan) Kinnard of New Castle, R.J. Barlow and Drew Cox both of Spiceland, Scott (wife, Angie) Shook of Anderson; great-grandchildren, Colbe, Jonah, Caleb, Gia, and Myles; sister, Judy Avery of Knightstown; brother, Don Myers of Houston, TX; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jack Avery; sister-in-law, Sue Myers and his in-laws, Robert Garner and Oma Garner.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Danny Goddard officiating. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the funeral home.
