Charles A. Purdy

Charles A. Purdy, 66, of New Castle passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025. He was born in Terre Haute on March 9, 1959 to the late Paul and Mary (Robinson) Purdy.

Charles graduated high school in Terre Haute in 1977. After graduation, he attended Indiana State University and Purdue University where he earned a Master’s degree in safety management and went on to use those skills in the medical field. Charles was a man with many hobbies. He enjoyed hunting, especially birds, and had a special bird dog named Riley. Charles also enjoyed fishing and shooting at ranges. He was a very confident man and would always tell you what he truly thought. He was very honest, but still a very kind man. Charles could do anything he put his mind to. His wisdom will be greatly missed by all who loved and honored him.

Charles is survived by his four sons, Ben Purdy, Andy (Lisa) Purdy, Nick (Ann) Purdy and Daniel (Emily Wrinkle) Purdy; grandchildren, Chase Purdy, Isaac Purdy, Adelyn Purdy, Danielle Purdy, Alexa Purdy and Skylar Purdy; siblings, Paul Purdy, Beverly French, Janet Sims and Kathleen Pine; brother-in-law Mike Jones; and wife of 15 years and mother of his children, Karen Purdy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Laura Purdy; and siblings, C.J. Pearce and Hazel Jones.
