Clara “Granny” Viola Flowers, 73, of New Castle passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on October 3, 1939 in Iron City, TN to the late Edney and Robbie DeFoe.
Granny lived her life for God, family, and her home. She was a mother to many and granny to many more. Granny was a very giving person and always thought of others first. She was a member of the Grand Ave. Baptist Church and in her free time enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers.

Kotkoff of New Castle; Joyce Flowers of New Castle; Stephanie (husband: Jason) Bowen of New castle; and Stacie (companion: Michael Ridenour) Flowers of New Castle; grandchildren: Hailey Flowers of Kennard; Joshua Patrick (wife: Jennifer Hope) Stigall of Muncie; Patricia Jo (husband: Bryant) Taylor of Middletown; Chasity Renay Sharritts of Middletown; Melinda Aust of New Castle; Brendan, Christian, Noah, and Elijah Bowen all of New Castle; Alyssa and Aiden Flowers both of New Castle; great grandchildren: Jordan, Jaylan, and Jaxson Stigall all of Muncie; Ethan and Ava Taylor of Middletown; Kaytlyn Hampton and Aleyna Sharritts both of Middletown; sisters: Beredine Franklin of Franklin, TN; Dorothy Craft of Noblesville; Marie Smith of AR; brother: Larry DeFoe of Noblesville.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers: Howard, Junior, and Billy DeFoe.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday May 30, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with the Reverend Charles Dugger officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Garden.
