Clarice Blevins

Clarice Blevins, age 93, of New Castle, passed away Monday, May 25, 2009 at Hickory Creek of New Castle. She was born November 15, 1915 in Parnell, Kentucky to the late Alvin and Susie (Smith) Crabtree.

She had been employed at Western Electric and Jarrett’s Market in New Castle. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in New Castle and former member of Parnell Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, horseback riding and spending time with her family.

Survivors include two sons: Noel (wife: Lillie) Blevins and Jack (wife: Betty) Blevins both of New Castle; twelve grandchildren: Bruce, Mike, Rick, Jimbo, Noel, William Joe, Rick, Randy, and Rusty Blevins, Steve Dobbs, Candy McClure, and Eric Moore; fifteen great grandchildren: Steven Dobbs, Jr., Dusti Dobbs, Misty Cecil, Belinda Hall, Melissa Pope White, Amiee Denny, Angel Hammonds, Noel III (Buddy), Erica, Ryan, Amanda Nicole, Rick, Jr., and Holly Blevins, Jenny McClure, Carrie Norris; several great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Elva Hollars and Delphi Blevins; a brother-in-law: Marion Jr. (wife: Dolores) Blevins; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Francis Blevins in 1993; a son: Jim Blevins; a daughter: Edna Dobbs; three granddaughters: Brenda White, Katrina Guffey, and Jessy McClure; two grandsons: Troy Blevins and Robby Chad Blevins; two brothers: Ernest and Everett Crabtree; three sisters: Nova Hollars, Myrtle Chriswell and Edna O’Rear; two half brothers: John and Shade Crabtree; a half sister: Crissie Crabtree Frost and a special nephew: Raymond Jack Hollars.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Bobby Slagle officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Calvary Baptist Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
