Clifford A. Smith

Clifford A. Smith, 87, of New Castle passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Henry Community Health. He was born July 5, 1935 in Chanute, Tennessee, son of the late Coy Taft and Mallie Doris (Claborn) Smith.

Clifford was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany. He retired from Delco Remy in Anderson in 1991 after 36 years of service. Clifford was a very active member of the Church of Christ on 200 North in New Castle where he served as an Elder. He enjoyed traveling with family and friends as well as bluegrass music. Clifford especially loved spending time with his family & church family.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 65 years, Irene (Couch) Smith, whom he married November 29, 1957; two daughters, Karen Smith of Noblesville and Kim (Phil) Morgan of New Castle; two grandchildren, John (Ashley) Morgan and Beth (Ben) Johnson; four great grandchildren, Bella, Noah, Macy and Tabitha along with Alex & Raelee, who also call him Grandpa; one brother, Glen Smith of Mays; and several nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, Clifford was preceded in death by his siblings, AC Smith, JD Smith, Paul Smith and Sherlie Williams.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Phil Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown.
