Connie Young

Connie Young, 73, of New Castle passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 26, 2023 at I.U. Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born June 28, 1949 in New Castle to the late John Walter and Betty (Alcorn) Hays.

A 1966 graduate of Straughn High School, Connie had worked at L&K Motel and The Waters of New Castle, but she really enjoyed being a homemaker. An excellent cook, she enjoyed gardening, flowers, and camping as well. She loved spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren. She was most understanding, outgoing, and was a wonderful wife, mom, and “Meme’. She was a member of the Locust Grove Church of the Brethren for many years.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of over 55 years, Paul R. Young Sr. of New Castle; children, Mark Young of New Castle and Vicki (Roger) Brock of Connersville; grandchildren, Beth (Chris) Davidson of Knightstown, Dillion (Anita) Moffitt of New Castle, Chelsea Young (Tyler Zachary) of Spiceland, Makayla Moffitt of Connersville, Kimberly Young, Dakota Young, Paul Young III; great grandchildren, Mayabella, Jayden, Hunter, Amara, Jarad, and Arein; a sister, Barbara Pierce of Indianapolis, and a brother, John Walter (Mary) Hays of Muncie; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Paul R. Young Jr.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Tim Webb officiating. Burial will follow in New Lisbon Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Parkinson’s Disease at give.michaeljfox.org.
