Cora Sue Williams

Cora Sue Martin Williams, age 93, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at her home. She was born on August 16, 1930 in Pickett County, Tennessee to the late Clarence and Mae (Hildreth) Martin.

Cora graduated from Pickett Co. High School in Byrdstown, TN in 1949, just before marrying the love of her life, Willie L. Williams, on the eighth of August that same year. Her family was her priority. She loved cooking family dinners, baby sitting, and tending to her garden and flowers. Cora truly loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her passion was spending time with her family.

Cora is survived by her three daughters, Penny (John) Cross, Patricia Williams and Cynthia (David) Cook; two granddaughters, Candice Cook and Christina Edwards (Cook); her four great-grandchildren, Cashlyn, Ryker, Wilson, and Lynixx; sister-in-law, Nola Armstrong as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willie L. Williams; brothers, Donald, Glenn, and Willie D. Martin; sisters, Orella Boles, Charlene Martin, Lanola Dyer and Nell Upchurch, brother-in-law, TG Armstrong and a sister-in-law, Robbie (Cohen) Wittenburg.

Services for Cora will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 19, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Gary Davis officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
