Cordelia Wright

November 5, 1917 — February 23, 2012

Cordelia Bogue Wright, 94, of Spiceland, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012. She was born on November 5, 1917 in Spiceland, Indiana to the late Oscar and Cora (Hodson) Bogue, descendents of prominent Pioneer Families.

Cordelia was a 1935 graduate of Spiceland High School. She was a birthright member of the Spiceland Friends Meeting where she was active in its United Society of Friends Women, the Keystone Sunday School Class, and Friendly Supporters. Other membership include Art Guild of Henry County, Art Association of Henry County, Spicy Bees Home Extension Club, Spiceland Alumni Association, Henry County Historical Society, Kennard Brotherhood-Sisterhood and Spiceland Preservation and Tourism Society. She was a well-known artist entering many juried shows, and a genealogist and author having written and illustrated many family history books and her autobiography. She had worked for the Spiceland School Corporation retiring in 1972.

She married Carson Wright March 28, 1937, celebrating 60 years in 1997.

Survivors include: daughters, Carlene (Richard) Creviston, Karen Lackey; son, Rex (Karen) Wright; granddaughters: Melinda Wright, Christy (Chris) Cook, Amy (Don) Crossley, Samantha (Adam) Bales; grandsons: Michael (Megan) Wright, Eric (Melissa) Creviston, Alex (Cindy) Creviston, and Quentin Wright; great grandsons: Jacob and Jackson Crossley, Clark, Carson and Cole Wright, Lance and Chance Creviston, and Garrett Fields; great granddaughters: Ryan Crossley, Sarah, Elizabeth and Anna Creviston, Chloe Wright and Kaitlyn Fields; nieces and nephews, sister-in-law: Mary Emma Wright.

Cordelia was preceded in death by parents, husband: Carson Wright, son: Ray Wright, grandson: Thaddeus Wright, great grandson: Christian Wright, brothers: Kenneth Bogue and Herman Bogue; and sister: Elva Schaub.

Memorial service will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Cathy Harris officiating. Friends may call from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
