Cory Ryan Vaughn, age 34, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 at his residence. He was born February 18, 1978 in Muncie, Indiana to Sammy and Sherry (Hollars) Vaughn.
Cory was a 1996 graduate of Shenandoah High School where he wrestled, played football, and was MVP his sophomore year. He was also a cheer lifter in high school and performed in the New Years day parade in London, England. Cory was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and loved the Marines. He loved watching his children play sports. He enjoyed motorcycles, camping, was an avid gardener and loved planting trees. Cory was a member of the Spiceland Pike Church of God where he accepted the Lord and was baptized October 26, 2011.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife Amanda Vaughn of New Castle; children, Zachery Vaughn of Pendleton, Chase, Chloe, and Cooper Vaughn all of New Castle; sibling, Todd (wife, Michelle) Vaughn of Wisconsin; nephews, Ross Vaughn of Pendleton, Seth Vaughn of Wisconsin, Trenton and Ashton Morgan both of Springport; niece, Kaylyn Morgan both of Springport; maternal grandmother, Elva Hollars of New Castle; mother and father-in-law, Mike and Terry Morgan of New Castle; brother-in-law, Zach (wife, Shirley) Morgan of Springport; grandparents-in-law, Evelyn and Charles Moore of New Castle; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William Hollars; paternal grandparents, William and Allie Vaughn; grandfather-in-law, Hobert Morgan.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Larry Stevinson and Lucas Ketring officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-Legion Hill. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars and a active contingent from the United States Marine Corp.
