Craig A. Slack, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away from this world on November 24, 2024, at his home. Born on March 15, 1974, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Richard and Patricia Caldwell Slack, Craig was truly a miracle child—a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Craig was a 1992 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. After graduating, he worked serving others as a custodian at Centerville Elementary School, Knightstown High School, and most recently, Blue River Valley High School. He also volunteered at Habitat for Humanity Restore in New Castle. Known for his sense of humor and his ability to connect with everyone he met, Craig's personality turned ordinary moments into cherished memories. Craig was always busy, whether it was finding a great deal at an auction or brightening someone's day with a perfectly timed joke.
He delighted in helping his grandpa on the farm and the family vacations to their cabin in Michigan. These were some of his happiest moments, filled with laughter and shopping trips with grandma, always known to return with treasures—possibly adding to his collection of farm toys and Smurfs.
Craig is survived by his parents, Rick and Patsy Slack; brother, Ryan (Dawn) Slack; aunt, Reene Ann Slack; uncles, David (Marti) Caldwell, and Chuck (Peggy) Caldwell; cousins, Sara (Larry) Dick, Nathan Caldwell, Tim Caldwell, Ian (Patricia) Caldwell; and special friend and neighbor, Ed McConnell.
Craig is preceded in death by his grandparents, Forrest and Alice Slack, and Kenneth and Martha Caldwell.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, from 10:00am-12:00pm. Graveside services will follow at West Point Cemetery in Liberty, Indiana. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service.
