Crystal B. Freer Patty

Crystal B. Freer Patty, 95, of New Castle died Friday, November 26, 2010 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. She was born February 3, 1915 in Henry County the daughter of the late Pearl and Gertrude (Stauble) Cross.

A 1933 graduate of Center High School, she was a longtime Blountsville resident and had lived in Farmland for a few years and in New Castle for the past few years. She had worked a few years at the Blue Moon Restaurant in Losantville and retired from Henry County Hospital. She was a lifetime member of the Buck Creek Church of the Brethren where she had served as treasurer for many years, was involved with the Ladies Aide and other church organizations.

Survivors include two sons: Floyd (wife: Shirley) Freer and Merritt (wife: Rita) Freer, all of Blountsville; three grandchildren: Lisa Blount and Dan Freer, both of Losantville and April Medsker of Shelbyville; five great grandchildren; a foster brother: Joe (wife: Dorothy) Duncan of Muncie; a stepson: Jim Patty; two sisters in law: Mary Jane Cross of Parker City and Vera Cross of Muncie.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husbands: Joseph Freer and Joseph Patty; a daughter: Leola Pierce; and three brothers: Leonard Cross, Byron Cross and Marion Cross; a stepson, Tom Patty.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Mike Cassidy and Chuck Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery.
