Danny Lee Day, 79, a resident of Spiceland passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at his home. He was born April 18, 1943 in New Castle, a son of the late Robert Louis and Ventla Marie (Chriswell) Day.
A 1961 graduate of Chrysler High School, he was employed at Westinghouse Corp. in Muncie. Danny married Sharon Lee (Washburn) in 1965 and continued working at Westinghouse until its closing. He and Sharon then purchased Wilsons Market in Spiceland, where he was a grocer for over 20 years.
Danny was very active in the Spiceland Lions Club where he served as president for a number of years. He was also a member of Spiceland United Methodist Church. Danny was a strong encourager of his wife’s musical skills, having made two of her instruments. He loved attending her weekly group music practice and became close friends with other member’s spouses. In his later years, as his vision and sight declined and arthritis made walking difficult, he found joy in caring for his dogs and cats.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years: Sharon Lee (Washburn) Day; daughters: Amie Lisa (William Patrick) Thornburg and Jenifer Lynn Day (partner: Barry Revalee); grandchildren: Emily (Taylor) Catron, Lindsey (Joel) Wicker, Kirstin (Troy) Saunders, Erica (Blake) Brummett and Joshua (Bailey) Lee; four great-grandchildren: Aiden Skillman, Emmy Lee, Dallas Lee and Jordan Saunders; sister: Connie (Richard) Masters; brother: Michael Joseph Day; niece: Julie Rinehart and a great-nephew: Cody Hoopingarner.
