Danny B. Lacy

Master Sergeant Danny B. Lacy, 76, a resident of Anderson passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at his home. He was born March 28, 1948 in New Castle to the late Donald B. and Ellen (Stigall) Lacy.

Dan entered the US Air Force on a delayed enlistment program upon graduating Spiceland High School in 1967 and served for 24 years. He was the flight supervisor for Central Indiana (New Castle, Muncie and Indianapolis) and was also the Tri-State Flight Supervisor where he won Top Supervisor of the Nation in 1989. Dan won numerous additional awards during his career.

Dan won the Plymouth trouble-shooting award his senior year in high school. He served as an assistant basketball coach and was a former member of the Moose and Eagles Lodge, American Legion and the VFW. An avid fisherman, he was known for catching a 30 lb. catfish. Dan was also an accomplished musician and played lead guitar for singer Tomi Fujiyama in Japan. Other hobbies include hunting, fishing and golfing. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and he loved his family dearly.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years: Brenda Kay (Akers) Lacy, whom he married September 5, 1968; two children: Anna Mechelle Lacy of Anderson and Timothy Wayne Lacy of New Castle; six grandchildren: Jeff Allen of Anderson, Brittany (Danny) Mills of Alexandria, Timothy W. Lacy, Jr, Lance Michael Lacy, Savannah (Casey) Redmond and Brittany Elmore, all of Anderson; five great-grandchildren: Rylee Redmond, Adrianna, Lily, Adalynn and Chloe Mills; brother: Donald B. Lacy, Jr; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Charles David Lacy; brother: Timothy Lacy; in-laws: Don and Lola Getchell and Don Akers

The family would like to say a special thank you to the following: Kiza Gurbic and Don Kentner for being such special friends, Mechelle Lacy, Jeff Allen and Brittany Elmore for the wonderful care given to Dan and Phil Hinsey with Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service for making such a difficult time a little easier.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery, Spiceland with military rites conducted by contingents of the US Air Force, American Legion and the VFW. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until the time of the service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project.
