Darrell W Thurston

Darrell W. Thurston, 75, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 30, 2013 at his home. He was born July 19, 1938 in Monticello, KY, a son of the late Murl J. and Flora Mae (Clark) Thurston.

A life long farmer, Darrell enjoyed horses, raising goats, gardening, and his John Deere tractor collection. He enjoyed attending bluegrass gospel sings and loved spending time with his grandchildren, who meant the world to him. He was a member of the Sulphur Springs Masonic Lodge #348, and a past member of the Moose Lodge in New Castle.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 53 years, Beverly D. (Hardgrove) Thurston, whom he married July 3, 1960; two children, Stephen (Shawn) Thurston of New Castle and Donna Young (Mike Prenatt) of Wilkinson; three grandchildren, Amanda Jo Young of Wilkinson, Emily Thurston and Jared Thurston, both of New Castle; two sisters, Louise (Thurston) Carter of New Castle and Murlene Pyles of Monticello, KY; four brothers, John (Betty) Thurston of New Castle, Jimmie Thurston of New Castle, Gene Thurston of Greenfield, and Glen (Barbara) Thurston of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rhonda Jo Thurston; a sister, Alene Thurston; a brother, Kenneth Thurston, and a grandson, Nicholas Thurston.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Tim Glidden officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition.
