David Ashley

David E. Ashley, age 76, of Okeechobee died January 3, 2009 at Raulerson Hospital. Born May 22, 1932 in New Castle, IN to Earl and Eva Ashley he was a lab technician for Delco Remy for 30 years. He came to Okeechobee in 1981. He was a member of the Okeechobee Presbyterian Church, Okeechobee Lions Club, and Masonic Scottish Rite. He proudly served our country in the US Army during the Korean War.

He is predeceased by his daughter, Brenda S. Ashley; sister, Louise Ashley; and brother, Charles Ashley. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce Ford Ashley; son, Jeffery W. Ashley (Janie) of New Castle, IN; three grandchildren, Eric Hasty, Amanda, and Jeffery Ashley all from New Castle, IN; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Ashley of New Castle, IN and Bernard Ashley of Port Orange, FL; and sister, Maretta Mogle of New Castle, IN.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the food pantry at Okeechobee Presbyterian Church.
