David Fred Bell, age 65, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, May 09, 2013 at IU Health Ball Hospital in Muncie following a brief illness with cancer. He was born October 1, 1947 in Monticello, Kentucky to the late Fred T. and Maxine G. (Crabtree) Bell.
He retired from Chrysler Corporation after 30 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge. He liked to smile and enjoyed playing practical jokes. He enjoyed tinkering, drawing and old western movies.
Survivors include a son, Michael Bell of New Castle; four grandchildren, Alexandria, Dylan, Brianna and Lynette; a great grandson, Mason; a brother, Gerald K. (Pat) Bell of Lapel; two sisters, Debbie (John) Ellington and Lisa Winchester both of New Castle; three nieces, Jennifer Goode, Tara Ellington, and Jamie Ellington; four nephews, Christopher Bell, Patrick Bell, Brandon and Nick Gillock.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Bell.
The family would like to thank Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center for all the special care given to David.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Jerry Ingalls officiating.
