David Wayne Healton

David Wayne Healton, age 66, of Mooreland passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born September 6, 1948 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Karl and Lucille (Hicks) Healton.

A 1966 graduate of Blue River High School, he retired from Dana Corporation in 1996, after working 27 years at the Hagerstown plant and 3 years in Syracuse, Indiana. He also worked at Ace Hardware in New Castle and then owned and operated a lawn care business. Living in the same area in Mooreland his entire life, he was a past member of the Mooreland Lions Club and served on the Mooreland Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed woodworking and hand crafted their entire bedroom suite. David loved to sing at his church; South Christian Church in Mooreland. A very family-oriented person, he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. David also enjoyed attending southern gospel concerts and was a NASCAR fan.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Utt Healton, whom he married February 10, 1967; two daughters, Lora (Gregg) Kissick of Mt. Summit and Mandy (Scott) Jones of Fortville; four grandchildren, Ashley (Aaron) Paugh of Middletown, Macy Kissick of Richmond, Casey Jones of Fortville and Miranda Jones of Fortville; brother, Larry (Sharon) Healton of Wichita Falls, TX; sister-in-law, Pat Healton of New Castle; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Carol Utt of Mt. Summit; aunt, Phyllis Hicks of Goshen, his dog, Scooby, and three cats. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Healton; sister-in-law, Cathy Utt; mother and father-in-law, John and Mary Anna Utt.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverends Adam Henderson and Dennis Hilton officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation is from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, August 9, 2015 at the funeral home.
