Knightstown

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David George Moore of Knightstown, IN. David passed away May 22, 2024 at his home leaving a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul.

David was born October 14th 1946 in Connersville, Indiana. He was one of three children born to Floyd Herman Moore and Erma Lois (Britton) Moore. David graduated from Connersville High School in 1964.

In his early years in 1964 he and a group of friends began a game of Monopoly it was at that time the longest Monopoly game ever played. They were also on the “I’ve Got a Secret” game show where they managed to stump the panel.

David learned many skills which were instrumental in the development of his talents. He enjoyed collecting postal stamps and was a craftsman at designing wood signs and birdhouses and a model of Abraham Lincoln’s home that’s just a start of his handiwork. He loved golf, made 3 hole in ones and was a great left-handed golfer.

David owned and operated Franklin Furniture Store in Indianapolis, IN. The success of the first store allowed him to expand with 2 more stores. David being the entrepreneur he was went into another business adventure as a home inspector and named the company Homestead Inspection.

His talents include the love for music where he and his friends organized a 5-member band called One Hundred Proof. David had a natural ability to play the organ and his favorite was his B-3 Hammond organ and was proud of his two big Leslie speakers.

Genealogy was another specialty for David, the study spanned decades as he documented the family records of cemeteries, interviewing many Kentucky residences, adding to many Kentucky databases.

David loved to study the Bible under the TV video teachings of Pastor Arnold Murray of Shepards Chapel. He was grateful to God for his blessings and believed in the Bible and thankful for his Christian heritage.

On November 8, 1988 he married Gloria (Garlach) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Over the years they went on many trips out west like Hawaii, Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Colorado. David and Gloria hosted many INDY 500 parties and many holiday gatherings over the years. David loved his family and friends.

Survivors include his spouse, Gloria Moore; his daughters, Natalie Moore, Dana Moore, Kirsten (Loyd) Shelby and Tracy (Bill) Eads and 5 grandchildren; his sister, Rita King; and brother, Joe Moore; as well as many loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
