Donald D. Popplewell, 87, formerly of New Castle, passed away at his home in Anderson on Thursday, April 10th, 2025. He was born December 20th, 1937 in New Castle, to the late Homer and Aileen (South) Popplewell.
Donald was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. He retired from Chrysler Corporation after 34 years of dedicated service and had also been employed at the Box Factory in New Castle. A member of Pleasant Valley Christian Church in Middletown, Donald enjoyed reading, spending time outdoors, and raising family pets. He took great joy in helping his sons with sports when they were young. He also cherished family vacations to Kentucky and loved camping. He was a devoted caregiver for his wife and a pillar of strength to his family.
A devoted husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Corinne Popplewell, a son, Chad (Shirley) Popplewell of Anderson, five grandchildren, Katie, Sheila, Britney, Jennie, and Marvin, several great-grandchildren, sister Linda (Isaac) Grunewald of North Dakota and several extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Dennis Popplewell and a brother, Larry Popplewell.
Private graveside services will be held at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition at the convenience of the family. There will be no public visitation. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
