David Marshall Tuggle, 79, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Richard L Roudebush VA Medical Center. He was born on September 15, 1945, in Bethesda, Kentucky, the son of the late Raymond and Mary Fern (Davis) Tuggle.
David had a generous spirit that knew no bounds. He was known for his kind-hearted gestures, often paying bills at restaurants. His generosity touched the lives of many, leaving a legacy of goodwill.
He deeply loved his family and friends and took great joy in their accomplishments. He enjoyed going on road trips, especially back home to Kentucky to visit family.
David was a hard worker and, following in his father’s footsteps, a retired Carpenter. He would fondly say that he drove nails all his life. He was proud of his work and often told stories about the homes he built.
David was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corp, Serving from 1965-1969 in the Vietnam war. He retired as a Sargent. During his service, he earned the following: National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Combat Aircrew Insignia, Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and a Marksmanship Badge-Rifle.
David faithfully attended Temple Baptist Church in New Castle.
David is survived by his wife, Patricia (Houser) Tuggle; son, James Michael Tuggle; step-son, Brian (Alaina) Supinger; step-daughters, Amy (David) Reed, Alycia (Jack) Turner; grandchildren, Garit Tuggle (Brook Blankenship), Max Tuggle, Lorelai Tuggle, Ethan Supinger, Kaidan Supinger, Brynlee Supinger, Jordyn (Jordan) Bourne, Olivia Turner (Derek Davis), Madisyn Reed, Trey Turner; great-grandchildren, Myra, Maddox and McKenna; siblings, Rex (Mable) Tuggle and Mary Ann Nunley.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda (Peavie) Tuggle; son, David Marshall Tuggle II; brother, Lloyd Tuggle; sisters, Barbara Murphy, Bonnie Thompson, Carolyn Perdue and Brenda Tuggle; brothers-in-law, Burnal “Spud” Murphy and Tom Thompson.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Mark Dellinger officiating. Military rites will be conducted by contingents of the U.S. Marines, American Legion and the VFW. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 12:00pm until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be given to Temple Baptist Church, 2937 Legion Dr., New Castle, IN 47362.
