Deborah Lee Stilwell

Deborah Lee Stilwell, 75, of New Castle passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. She was born June 13, 1948 in New Castle, Indiana, a daughter of the late Joseph and Jeanette (Lester) Alexander.
 
 Debbie was a 1966 New Castle Chrysler High School graduate. She worked at Chrysler Corporation until landing her dream job as stay at home mother and eventually reentered as a dedicated employee at Brooks Foods, Mt. Summit.  In retirement, Debbie and Larry enjoyed residing in Madison, Indiana on their 50-acre property for several years before returning to New Castle to enjoy spending time with their grandchildren. Debbie enjoyed the outdoors, spending time beating Larry at tennis, taking long bike rides, and fishing and swimming. Debbie and Larry enjoyed many beach vacations together. She loved watching the Colts, Indiana Hoosiers, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Debbie especially enjoyed cheering on Pat Summit and the Tennessee Lady Vols.  More than that she loved watching her grandchildren in their sporting events and school activities. Debbie still holds the family and friends record for consecutive hook shots made on the legendary basketball court on 400 South. 
 
 The family would like to express a special thank you to IU Health Ball Memorial Health Hospice.
 
 Survivors include children, Chris (Megan) Stilwell of New Castle and Stephanie (Phil) Criswell of New Castle; grandchildren, Jack Criswell, Dru Criswell, Cormac Stilwell and Dorian Stilwell, all of New Castle; brother Scott Alexander of New Castle; brother, Tom Alexander of New Castle; sister-in-law, Linda Harvey of Anderson; brother-in-law Joe Stilwell (Jean) of Orlando, Florida and several nieces & nephews, cousins, and friends. 
 
 In addition to her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Larry Stilwell and her sister Jody Adkins.
