Delmar G. McCaslin Sr.

February 15, 1929 — January 29, 2011

Delmar G. McCaslin Sr., age 81, of New Castle passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011 at his home from an extended illness. He was born February 15, 1929 in Scottsburg, IN to the late Delmar E. and Emma (Brown) McCaslin.

He retired from Ingersol Johnson Steel in 1986 after 34 1/2 years of service. A veteran of the US Navy, he served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Whittier Lane Baptist Church and the VFW and a former member of the Moose Lodge. He loved bowling, fishing, playing cards, bingo and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane (Chesher) McCaslin, children, Linda (companion: Lyle Hethcox) McCaslin of New Castle, Delmar Jr. (wife: Marlene) McCaslin of Malabar, Florida, Mike McCaslin of New Castle, Shelly (husband: Johnny) Rillaerts of Palm Bay, Florida, Kelly (companion: Evelyn Roberts) McCaslin of New Castle, eleven grandchildren, Delmar Sigfrid (wife: Melissa) Smith, Melissa (husband: Tyson) Hethcox, Tammy Hebel, Roy (companion: Marla Bass) Fugate, Johnny (wife: Summer) Fugate, Aaron Palsgrove, Kyle Palsgrove, Joshua Palsgrove, Austin Roberts, Denise Wolski (companion: Brent Johnson), Tiffany Evans (companion: Tyler Robertson), twenty great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, three sisters, Margaret Chesher of New Castle, Betty (husband: Bub) Johnson of Greenfield, Ruthie (husband: Don) Dudley of Greenfield, sister in law, Sherry McCaslin, several brother and sister in laws, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepmother, Mary McCaslin, father and mother in law, John and Carrie Chesher, brother, Bill McCaslin, three brother in laws, Charles, David, and Ralph Chesher, sister in law, Joan Reno, and several nieces and nephews

Services will be at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Frank Wood and Don Chesher officiating. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Delmar G. McCaslin Memorial Fund with envelopes available at the funeral home.
