Deloris I. Snyder, 85, of New Castle, passed away Friday, February 25, 2011 after a brief illness. She was born on October 13, 1925 in Cumberland County Kentucky the daughter of the late Willie and Bertie (Cash) Lewis.

Deloris retired from Rose City Packing in 1987 after 18 years of service. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, serving on various committees. She enjoyed quilting, reading, cooking, entertaining and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald Snyder; three daughters: Delilah (husband: Billy) Pierce, and Dianna (husband: Dennis) Hamilton, both of New Castle; Denise (husband: Barry) Abell of Mooresville; six grandchildren: Allan (wife: Kim) Pierce of Spiceland; Douglas (wife: Holly) Pierce, Derrick (wife: Amber) Hamilton, Deven (wife: Caroline) Hamilton and Danielle Hamilton, all of New Castle; Nolan Abell of Mooresville; ten great grandchildren; three brothers: James (wife: Phyllis) Lewis of Sioux City, Iowa, Clayton (wife: Virginia) Lewis of New Castle and Howard (wife: Leila) Lewis of Hagerstown; four sisters: Irene (husband: Wallace) Fairchild of Spiceland; Wilma Jean (husband: Bob, deceased) Howe of Hagerstown; Wanda (husband: Ronnie) Lee of Eaton, OH and Karen (husband: Tim) Hamilton of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother: Crandel Lewis; and a nephew: David Lewis.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Reverend Leon Davis officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m. Monday, February 28th at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to The First Church of the Nazarene or Henry County Cancer Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
