Dennis Jackson “Jack” Dickson, 87, of New Castle, passed away in his home on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, following an extended illness. He was born January 11, 1930, in Cedar Grove, WV, a son of the late Dennis Roscoe Dickson and Opal (Bosher) Dickson Bess.
Jack was a 1948 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston, WV. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1948-1952 during the Korean War. After graduating with a degree in Accounting from Morris Harvey University, Jack worked for Kittles Furniture, Associated Discounters, GE Credit, and retired from Modernfold in New Castle following over 25 years of service. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church in New Castle.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, S. Jane Dickson of New Castle; daughter Amy Dickson of New Castle; grandson, Evan Dickson of New Castle; brothers-in-law, Shelby Coffey of Muncie and Mack (Diana) Coffey of Monticello, KY; sisters-in-law, Mary (Bob) Richards of Frankfort, IN and Betty Sue Coffey of Monticello, KY; special cousin, Jerri Spencer of Huntington, WV.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Perdew Dickson; step father, Lester Bess; brother, Fred Dickson; sister, Lillian Mahoney; sisters-in-law, Sharon and Frances Coffey; brothers-in-law, Frank and Kenny Coffey.
Visitation will be from 2-4p.m. Sunday, November 12 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Services will be at 11:00a.m. Monday, November 13, 2017 at First Baptist Church in New Castle with Pastor Ken Durham officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion/VFW and US Navy. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
