Dennis Ray Hughett, 64, of Knightstown, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Stonebrook Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. He was born April 4, 1951 in New Castle the son of Robert and June (Walker) Hughett.
Dennis was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had been employed at Ingersoll Steel in New Castle, Bob & Vi’s, and Friends Bar and Grill in Knightstown. He also worked for M.G. Enterprises in Fountaintown, where he was landscaping supervisor. Dennis was a member of the VFW in New Castle and the Moose Lodge in Greenfield. He enjoyed fishing and collecting Hot Rod die cast cars. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by three daughters, Benita Hughett Gross (fiance, Tommy D. Cross) of New Castle, Misty Hughett Doyle of New Castle, Haley Hughett (Todd) Lawhorne of Carthage; two stepdaughters, Becki (Roger) Evans of New Castle, Jeri Flowers (companion, Barry Akers) of Salvisa, KY; stepson, John (Caressa) Flowers of Watertown, NY; grandchildren, Tameria Gross, Lisa Gross, Gabrielle Doyle, A.J. Doyle, Josie Doyle, Xavier Gorman, Ashton Gorman, Kalynn Gorman, Georgee Lawhorne, Abby Lawhorne, Hunter Hinton, Parker Evans, Emmerson Hollenbaugh, Carter Hollenbaugh, Greyson Akers, John Flowers III, Liam Flowers; one great grandson, Bransin Henson; sisters, Shirley (Tom) Thompson of New Castle, Brenda Hughett of New Castle; a brother, Ed (Linda) Hughett of Knightstown; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Becky Hughett in 2011; granddaughter, Mallorie Nichole; brother, Charles Hughett.
Service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Reverend Allen Collier officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM on Monday evening. Condolences and memories of Dennis may be shared at
