Deryl L. Chew

Deryl L. Chew, 59, of Greenfield passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born October 9, 1954 in Rushville a son of George and Phyllis (Eads) Chew.

Deryl retired from Ford Motor Company as a committeeman in 2006 after 34 years of service. He was currently employed at Auto Zone in Greenfield. He was a member of the Knightstown Masonic Lodge and was involved with the Indianapolis Colts organization and the True Blue Colts Fans. He enjoyed attending car shows, collecting Sinclair Gasoline memorabilia and going to swap meets. Deryl never met a stranger and loved spending time with his family. He loved people, music and enjoyed life in general.

He is survived by his wife: Earlene A. (Litteral) Chew, whom he married December 24, 1986; two sons: Jordan L. (Cathy) Chew of Greenfield and Zachary Lyell of Indianapolis; sisters: Diane McRoberts of Knightstown, Judy (Joey) Tompkins of Knightstown, and Janet (Joe) Herron of Carthage; several nieces, nephews and cousins; his granddogs: Shelby and Lacey and his cats: Jasper and Jinx.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Wayne Chew and a dog, Milo.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, September 14, 2014 at the Community Life Center on East Washington St. in Indianapolis. Services will begin at 1:00 PM and celebration will continue until 4 PM. Food will be available.
