Dianna Moore, 84, of Mooreland passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at her home. She was born on June 30, 1940, in Jamestown, TN to the Late Denton Hillary and Lottie Easter Ruby (Anderson) Smith.
She graduated from Walter P. Memorial Chrysler High School in 1960. Dianna was active in Spanish Club, and GAA (an archery club). She was noted for her excellent mathematics skills, and while she did not go on to extend her training in college, she was able to use her love of math in her work settings. Dianna worked at Sears and Lowe’s in New Castle. She retired from HR Block in New Castle.
In 1958, she met the love of her life, Billy Ray Moore. They were lovely teenage sweethearts who were admired by many. They were married on July 2, 1960.
Dianna was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church and attended Calvary Baptist Church where she met many lifelong friends and served in various ministry opportunities. She served with the GALS group at Grand Avenue Baptist Church which helped to bring meals and assistance to local veterans.
She enjoyed knitting, bowling, cake decorating, and candy making. Dianna loved gardening and bird watching. Spending time with her family brought a huge joy to Dianna’s heart! She would attend many school and sport events with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She held sleepovers, played games, cooked, and crafted with her precious ones.
Dianna’s greatest love was Jesus. She spoke of Him often, read His word, and prayed fervently over family and friends. Dianna’s life was a living example of the fruits of the Spirit. Her gentle spirit, coupled with her self-control and unwavering faithfulness, made her a role model for us all. She possessed the fruits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, and she shared those gifts freely with everyone she met. In her Bible and journal, she highlighted 1 Peter 3:3-4 “Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.” The inner beauty of Dianna Moore is a gift of her legacy to all of us.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Ray Moore; children, Julia Kay (Randy) Paul, Jennifer Ann (Chad) Chambers and Billy Ray (Lisa) Moore Jr.; grandchildren, Emily (Ben) Hamm, Sarah (Kenneth) Woods, Meghin (Eric) Bartlow, Elizabeth Holsted, Hunter Sims, Kennedy (Isaiah) Williams, Sam Chambers, Madison (Will Strantz) Moore, Ryleigh Moore, Gracen Moore, Corby Lyon, Lucy Lyon, Amelia Lyon; great grandchildren, Simon, Jude, and Selah Hamm, Chloe and Caden Woods, Ezra Bartlow, Eden, Evy, Ollie, and Finley Holsted, Andi Jane Williams, Heath Bowen; sisters, Joyce (Mike) Ford and Rose Watkins; sister-in-law, Norma Smith.
