Donald L. Beavers, of Spiceland, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Henry County Hospital. He was born March 3, 1931, in Sulphur Springs, Indiana to the late Millard H. and Doris (Harter) Beavers, Sr.
He was a 1949 graduate of Kennard High School. He attended St. Anne Catholic Church. Donald was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1990 following 30 years of service and had also been employed at Modernfold Corporation for 15 years. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, sailing with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching his grandson play high school and college basketball and his granddaughter play high school and college volleyball.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Rita (Varty) Beavers of Spiceland; children, Linda (husband, Ron) Lynch of Knightstown and Karen (husband, Tony) Cox of Springport, IN; grandchildren, Kyle (wife, Emily) Cox, Caitlin Cox, Ashley Lynch and Chelsea Lynch; two great grandchildren; brother, Millard (wife, Nancy) Beavers, Jr.; sister-in-law, Norma Beavers; brother-in-law, Martin Thomas; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Beavers; sister, Sharon “Sudy” Beavers Thomas; nephew, Thomas Beavers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2012 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Father Joe Rautenberg officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anne Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle where a Rosary Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
