Donald "Don" Atkinson

Donald “Don” Eugene Atkinson, 95, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 18, 2024. He was born on June 30, 1928 in Muncie, IN a son to the late William Jackson and Edna Elsie (York) Atkinson.

Don retired from Delco Remy after 30 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking and was a devoted Christian who enjoyed helping out at the church. Don attended the Cadiz Friends Church and Foursquare Church in New Castle. He was a kind man who would help anyone in need. Don was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all.

He is survived by his loving wife, Stella Atkinson; daughter, Belva (Lenny) Tungate; son, Jeff (Cyndee) Atkinson; grandchildren, Jonathan (Trina) Evans, Russell (Whitney) Atkinson, Janalee (Dewayne) Lyons, Jennifer (Justin) Michael and Laycee Tungate and 9 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Lee Atkinson and Delano Atkinson; sister, Gail Perdue and great granddaughter, Gracie Evans.

Services will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Bob Lines officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of the service.
