Donald “Don” Thomas, 65, of New Lisbon passed away on Tuesday January 28, 2025. He was born on August 31, 1959, in New Castle to the late John and Colleen (Suratt) Thomas.

A 1977 graduate of Tri High School, Don went on to study at Indiana Wesleyan University while working in the factory. He was proud to prove to his nieces and nephews that it was possible to go to college and graduate. Don was a Godly man who was very active in his church, Centerville Christian Church. He helped with VBS, the Beautiful Feet program, taught children’s church, participated in LifeWise Academy, and enjoyed his small group sessions.

Don was a lifelong learner that loved to study history, read about past Presidents, and self-help and improvement. He was a generous, humble, and loving man that took pride in his family and made sure he looked out for each of them. Don enjoyed riding his bike with his grandnephew Alex, along with riding his motorcycle, playing volleyball, and playing games with family. Don also loved cars and was an avid baseball fan and especially liked the Cincinnati Reds.

After 35 years Don retired from Precoat Metals in Greenfield.

He is survived by his wife Robin Thomas; stepson, Nathan Gniffke; nieces and nephews, Mariangella Glaze, Jeremy Thomas, Zach (Joanna) Holden, Abigail (Ross) Frisbie, Seth (Caroline) Holden and Jacob Holden; grand nieces and nephews, Andrew (Jenna) Glaze, Adam (Katie) Glaze, Alex Glaze, Rachel Holden, Alex Holden, Micah Holden, Landon Frisbie, Asa Frisbie, Lawson Holden, Maddox Frisbie, Scarlett Holden, Jedidiah Holden and Hannah Beth Holden; sisters-in-law, Patricia Thomas and Terrie Holden; along with many cousins.

In addition to his parents Don is preceded in death by brothers, Ronnie and Johnny Thomas; brother-in-law, Bob Holden; grand nephews, Azariah and Hanniah Holden. 

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Wes Sewell officiating. Burial will follow at New Lisbon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Fostering Hope, 1242 S. Brynewood Ln. Joplin, MO 64801.
