Donald “Don” M. Duncan, 85, of New Castle passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025. He was born May 3, 1939 in Wayne County, Kentucky to the late Russell Virginia (Hicks) Polson.
Don was a 1957 graduate of Wayne County High School in Monticello, Kentucky. He later joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. Don loved spending time with his grandchildren, camping, taking his RV out and spending time at Lake Cumberland fishing. He was so proud of all of his grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. He loved his church family and was a member of The Sanctuary of New Castle. He co-founded Capital Machinery in 1987 and worked there until his retirement. Before that, he had worked at New Castle Engineering for many years. Don was a lifetime member of the New Castle Eagles #933. Don will be missed for his caring but quiet personality and will always be remembered as a survivor that could conquer any task set before him.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Deloris Duncan; children, Kaye (William) Kendall, Kimberly Podhorn, Scott (Melisha) Troxell; grandchildren, Austin (Abigail) Kendall, Mariah Kendall, Jacob (Jessica) Troxell, Lexy (Shiloh) Carlock, Marissa Troxell, Carrianne Dicus, Benjamin and Christopher Podhorn; great grandchildren, Ember Jane Kendall and Hudson Scott Troxell; a brother and sister, Randy and Shirley and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, Don is preceded in death by a daughter, Kristy Troxell; and brothers, Jack and Gail Duncan.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Jeff Jaco officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
