Donald Figg, age 84, of Knightstown, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 25, 2014, while at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born January 24, 1930 in Martinsville, Indiana to the late Henry H. and Nora Figg.
He retired in 1968 from the United States Navy. He served during the Korean War, where he was an IC-1 electrician. He also retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle in 1991 as an electrician following 21 years of service. Donald was a member of the UAW Local #371, and was also a member of Southside Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed working on his 40 acre farm and loved to travel.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sallie E. Figg of Knightstown; children, William D. (Figg) Lee of New York, NY, Rebecca D. Figg of Asheboro, NC, Rita C. Shock of Spiceland and Michael C. (Sue) Figg of Bow, NH; nine grandchildren, Christopher Figg of NC, Amanda R. Guffey of Huntington, IN, Brittani D. Brestovich of Kennard, IN, Casey D. Denney of Shirley, IN, Deanna R. Hazelwood of KY, Chad A. Shock of Knightstown, IN, Adam B. Boyette and Rachel Boyette both of FL, Michelle Briggs and Jacob Figg both of ME; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Patsy Ireland of Broken Arrow, OK; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa R. Figg Boyette; three brothers, Earl, Carl and Leroy Figg.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Michael Dees officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and the VFW and a contingent from the United States Navy.
