Donald Thomas Smith

Donald Thomas Smith, age 71, of New Castle, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012 in his home with his family by his side. He was born May 13, 1941 in Albany, KY, a son of the late Jay and Vinnie (Branham) Smith.
He retired from Modernfold Industries after many years of employment.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Melba Jean (Jones) Smith of New Castle; one son, Donald Thomas Smith II; three daughters, Donna Jean Dawn (Keith) Ruetz, Dehronda (Patrick) Lawson, Tammie Smith (companion, Greg Sexton); twelve grandchildren, Samantha, Rachel, Karen Marie, Rebeccah Lee, Kachina, Juliet, Patrick, Matthew, Keith Jr., Christopher, Casey and Paxton; twelve great grandchildren, Tristen, Nathaniel, Braiden, Bentley, Kaleb, Masen, Breanna, Braylee, Kloie, Nataleigh, Nakayla, Caszie, and one on the way. Also, a sister-in-law, Elvalyn Smith; sister, Dorthy (Willie) Nickalas; brothers, Eurban Smith and Edwin (Wilma) Smith; several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Vinnie Smith; sisters, Jean Braswell and Zola Huddleston; brothers, Billy Smith and Jackie Smith; sister-in-law, Marty Smith.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Batson Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012 and on Wednesday from 12-2 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
