Donald Ray Wise

Donald Ray Wise, 69, of New Castle passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. He was born on June 17, 1954 in New Castle, IN a son to the late William and Nina (Kearney) Wise.

Most folks in New Castle know Don for being a weightlifter and an accomplished one at that. In 1973, at the age of 19, Don won the AAU Junior National weightlifting competition in the 181-pound class and for many years held several state titles for his weight class. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid outdoorsman but most importantly he loved spending time with his family. Don enjoyed making people laugh everywhere he went.  Donald attended Walter P. Chrysler High School.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Belinda Wise; sons, Scott Wise (Erin Mahin) and Steven (Tia) Wise; grandchildren, Devon Hernly, Lillian Guffey, Caleb Supinger, Tyler Wise, Katelyn Wise, Trent Supinger, Ethan Wise and Brooklyn Wise; siblings, Jack Wise and Susan Conner; mother-in-law, Creola Carter.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by, daughter, Kristin Supinger; brothers, Jim, Gene, David and Billy Jr; father-in-law, William C. Carter.

Services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Tommy Hensley officiating. Burial to follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 2:00pm-5:00pm at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be given to the Wilbur Wright Fish and Wildlife Area, c/o Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, 3406 S. Memorial Dr. New Castle, IN 47362. Envelopes will also be provided at the funeral home.
