Donnie C. Hoots, 71, of New Castle, took his first breath in Heaven on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at St Vincent Hospital surrounded by his wife and family. He was born in New Castle on July 12, 1953, to the late Charles and Golda (Nation) Hoots.

A 1973 graduate of Chrysler High School, Donnie graduated from IUPUI with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for many years at Fujitsu Ten in Rushville, where he was in Management as Director of Quality. After retirement, he earned a degree in Radiologic Technology.

A beloved husband, dad, papaw and brother, Donnie always put others first and was an example of showing his love through service to others, his family, his church and his community. He made a positive impact on the lives of everyone he met.

He and his wife, Lisa, fostered children for several years, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage in June 2024. At their celebration, he shared their love story openly to 140 guests, showing his love and appreciation for her. He loved working at the Mooreland Area Food Pantry with his mother-in-law, Pat Hicks. He spent many days there doing whatever was needed.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Lisa Hoots of New Castle; four daughters, whom he referred to all of them as Sugar, Courtenay (Brian) Pierce of Lewisville, Cassie (Will) Hart of Denver, CO, Kylee (Travis) Hays of Ft. Wayne, and Katherine Hoots (fiancé, Todd Harding) of New Castle; a son, Lee Hoots of Richlands, NC; grandchildren, Cainan Pierce, Simon (Madi) Pierce, Abe Pierce, Malachi Pierce, Olive Hart, Eliza Hart, June Hays, and Tilly Hays; brothers, Jerry (Sandy) Hoots of New Castle and Jeff (Melissa) Nation of Middletown; his mother in law, Pat Hicks of Mooreland; several nieces and nephews.
