Donnie McCorkle, 62, of New Castle passed away peacefully surrounded by his adoring family on Thursday, March 12, 2020, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. He was born June 22, 1957 to James C. and Ruby J. McCorkle.
He was a 1975 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. He was employed by Guide Lamp in Anderson Indiana for 13 years, where he served as Committeeman for UAW Local 663. After his father’s passing in 1990, he decided on a new career at New Castle Ford. Starting out as a salesman, he quickly moved up to Business Manager and then General Manager for 17 years. After New Castle Ford’s closing, he then moved on to other dealerships. However, he so loved the local customers that he returned to his hometown at Goodwin Dodge as the Business Manager. He spent the next eight years doing what he loved best, helping customers. They often approached his family saying that he was the most honest car guy. He was compassionate, hardworking and loved what he did. On November 4, 2019, he retired.
When he was 17, he discovered the game of golf. It became his lifelong passion. A lifetime member of the Henry County Memorial Park Golf Course, he loved to spend his weekends playing in tournaments and with his golf buddies. His favorite foursome was Dale Hicks, Mike Taylor and Greg Givens. He was a lifetime Indiana University Basketball fan.
In 1978 he married his adoring wife, Cyndi A. Kendall. It was a match made in heaven for almost 43 years. He is also survived by sisters, Kimberlin McCorkle and Brenda (Mike) Fairchild; brothers-in-law, Brad Huddleston and Burke Huddleston; sisters-in-law, Tonyia Martin and Holly Kendall; mother and father in-law, Glenda and William Huddleston; niece, Jessica McCorkle; great nephew, Caito Rector; and several nieces and nephews.
