Donnie L. Tirey, Sr.

Donnie L. Tirey, Sr., 67, of New Paris, OH, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born August 3, 1946 in Booneville, KY a son of Donald and Thelma (Taylor) Tirey.

He worked as a mechanic at Van Con Construction in Dayton, OH and retired in 2012 after 20 years of service. Donnie loved street rods and his passion was going to car shows with friends along with spending time with his grandchildren. He had a good sense of humor, was a prankster and loved to laugh. He also enjoyed working on his 1942 Chevy truck.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years: Wanda L. (Halcomb) Tirey of New Paris, OH; children: Thomas Tirey, Donnie Tirey, Jr., Roger Tirey, Betsey Tirey, Allen (Jennifer) Houchins, Brenda (Mike) Todd, Barbara (Steve) Fort and Joshua Doughty; 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; a brother: Ronnie Tirey; a sister: Terry Shirley; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Gloria McKinney and Phyllis Penrod.

Services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until time of service.
