Dora Lee Fisher, age 98, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 14, 1914 in Georgetown, Kentucky to the late George and Mary (Martin) Luke.
She attended New Castle High School and retired from New Castle State Hospital. She had also been employed at Tapscott’s Dress Shop in New Castle, First Christian Church, Ball Memorial Hospital, Henry County Hospital, and had transported cars for the Newby Paul Auto Dealership. After her retirement, she worked with Foster Grandparents and was a life member of the First Christian Church in New Castle. She was also active with New Castle Band Boosters and the Henry County Senior Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Myron Fisher; two daughters, Jean Ann Fisher and Nancy Kathryn (Fisher) McCormack; three brothers, Emil, Richard and George Luke.
Survivors include a sister, Nancy (husband, Vernnon) Beck of Fishers; sister-in-law, Ruth Luke of Findlay, OH; three grandchildren, Mary (husband, Keith) Smith of Rockwall, TX, John McCormack (special friend Jeanetta Malkemus) of New Castle and Katy (husband, James) Nelson of New Castle; six great grandchildren, Daniel Black, Morgan, Will and Emily Smith all of Rockwall, TX and Andrew and Mark Nelson both of New Castle; great-great granddaughter Shauni Black of Rockwall, TX; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the First Christian Church in New Castle with Reverend Mandy Yates officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
