Doris O. Cole

June 28, 1926 — March 20, 2011

It is with deep regret and a sad heart that we announce the passing of Doris Cole. It was her wish that this time cause as little inconvenience as possible so there will be no visitation or formal funeral service. The body was cremated.

We would ask that you celebrate her life in a way that you deem appropriate. Doris was born in Washington, IN, graduated from Plainville (IN) High School and retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of employment. She attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Greenwood, IN.

Ralph Waldo Emerson defined SUCCESS thusly: ‘To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.’

Accordingly, we can say that Doris Cole lived a successful life. She leaves a daughter, Donna McDowell of Indianapolis; grandsons, Wade Stephen Hill and Travis Blain Hill; a brother, Carl Eugene Orender of Washington, IN.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association 50 East 91st St. Suite 100 Indianapolis, IN 46240. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hinsey-brown.com .
