Doris J. (Steurer) McNabb, 82, of Knightstown, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013 at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield. She was born March 12, 1931 in New Castle, a daughter of Layton L. and Jeanette (Sharp) Borror.
Doris had lived in the Knightstown area since 4th grade and attended Knightstown High School. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Bethel Presbyterian Church and was a former member of Historic Knightstown. She enjoyed gardening, working with flowers, and attending Broadway musicals. Doris was also an avid fan of the Knightstown Panthers, Colts, IU and Purdue sports.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters: Nancy Meredith of Noblesville, Carol Stutsman of Spokane, WA, and Shirley (husband, Dave) Farris of Indianapolis; a son: John Steurer of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; eight grandchildren: Jim (Stephanie) Meredith, Rob (Tina) Meredith, Rusty (Heather) Meredith, Melissa Likens, Jennifer (Terry) Jordan, Jason (Sonja) Stutsman, Erika (James) Sylvia, Rachelle Richey, and Craig Richey; 17 great grandchildren; a sister: Evelyn (husband, Lewis) Merchant of Knightstown; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Layton Borror, her mother and step-father, Jeanette (Sharp) Mattix and Glen Mattix; her husband: Richard “Doc” McNabb, and a brother: Robert Borror.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Curt Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.
